U15/18 Players and Parents,
We play small sided, age grouped Saturday afternoon games for our 13 yr old and older players. Our focus is on individual player development and fun rather than trying to win individual matches. The players will be treated as multiple groups teams (based on age, skill) and have a 60-90 minute training window in which they will participate in some individual skill drills and then play numerous short games of either 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6, 7v7; depending on how many participants show up on Saturdays. These games will be played on a small to medium size fields from 1- 2:30 pm. This will not be a "free for all" but rather a coach supervised and organized game. Parents are very welcome to come watch their players but asked to refrain from direct play by play instructions. We want players at this age to take initiative and be creative which often means making mistakes and hopefully learning from them.
They do not need to purchase a BUSA uniform but will be given a BUSA t-shirt at the first game. They will wear pinnie vests for their games similar to indoor or futsal games (BUSA will provide the pinnies). They will need to wear approved shin pads and bring their size 5 ball.
This format has been implemented based on feedback from many parents as well as input from the High School soccer coaches and the BUSA Board of Directors. The intent of this change is to increase player interaction with the ball (which improves skill and reduces monotony) and be more accommodating for the ever changing schedules of high school age kids.
If you have any questions or willing to help with this group please feel free to call or text me at 337-378-9375.
Thank you,
Marc Meyle
